Drive from Hanoi to Ba Be, visit a Tay ethnic village and enjoy a boat ride on Ba Be Lake
Our driver and tour guide will pick you up early in the morning at your hotel in Hanoi to begin your journey through northeastern Vietnam. The drive to the national park is approximately 230 kilometers long, with a stop in a local Tay village along the way.
Here, you'll learn about their traditions and rice farming. Upon arrival at Ba Be National Park, you'll board a boat and travel down the Nang River, passing through wild and rugged landscapes before reaching Puong Grotto, where you can admire the impressive stalagmites and stalactites.
The journey continues along the river until you arrive at Ba Be Lake. You'll visit Widow Island, named after the local legend and enjoy a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear waters if you wish.
Your day will end in Coc Toc Village, inhabited by the Tay ethnic minority, where you'll spend the night at Mr. Linh’s Homestay.
Drive from Ba Be to Quang Uyen in Cao Bang Province, explore Hua Ma Cave
After breakfast with your host family, today's journey begins with a visit to Hua Ma, a dry cave filled with thousands of stunning stalactites. Following this, you'll drive around Ba Be Lake. As you leave Ba Be and cross through the rainforest, you'll stop for lunch in Cho Ra Town.
The journey then continues to Quang Uyen, a district primarily inhabited by the Nung ethnic minority. Due to their isolation, the centuries-old traditions and culture of the Nung people remain distinct from other minorities in Vietnam.
This remoteness and traditional simplicity make Quang Uyen particularly appealing. You will experience this firsthand by staying overnight at a homestay in the village, where you will enjoy dinner with local family.
Explore Ban Gioc Waterfall, Nguom Ngao Cave and the local market
The third day promises to be the highlight of your tour, featuring one of Northern Vietnam's most spectacular natural wonders: Ban Gioc Waterfall. This breathtaking cascade spans 300 meters wide and straddles the border between China and Vietnam, set amidst stunning mountainous scenery. While here, you can relax amidst this natural beauty, capture incredible photos and embark on a bamboo boat ride that brings you so close to the falls you can feel the spray on your face. It's a unique experience, sitting right on the edge of Vietnam, near enough to China that you can almost touch it.
After enjoying the waterfall, you'll venture deep underground into the enchanting Nguom Ngao Cave, marveling at millennia-old rock formations shaped by erosion. Following this, you'll visit a bustling local market where people from various communities gather to buy and sell locally produced goods and socialize.
Later in the day, you'll hike to Phat Tich Temple, providing insights into local beliefs and offering unmatched views of Ban Gioc Waterfall with China in the background. To conclude the day's adventures, you'll travel to Lang Son, where accommodations for the night await at a hotel.
