Pickup from Hue and travel north on Highway One toward Dong Ha, stopping at significant sites along the way, including the Highway of Horror, Quang Tri Citadel, and Ai Tu Airfield. Continue to Dong Ha, which served as the headquarters for U.S. Marine elements, then proceed west on Route 9.
Your first stop will be the Rockpile, a former U.S. Marine Corps lookout. Next, visit the Van Kieu ethnic minority community in Central Vietnam before heading to Khe Sanh village to explore the Khe Sanh Combat Base.
Enjoy lunch in Dong Ha. Afterward, continue north to see the Hien Luong Bridge over the Ben Hai River, which marked the boundary between North and South Vietnam during the war. Then, visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels, which provided refuge for around 400 North Vietnamese civilians during the “Rolling Thunder” bombing campaign.
Back to Hue. End of the trip.
